2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L

The Beau Terre vineyard is a centerpiece for Doug Hill’s accumulated viticultural knowledge. Very tight spacing with an S cordon and a lyre trellis on clone 337 are the distinctive features of this vineyard. Row direction is east west to give protection against sunburn in July and August.  Baker is a rocky mild slope facing southwest, carved out of heavy chaparral. The nose opens with notes of blackberry and plum and a background of toasted hazelnuts. The palate showcases bright blackberry and boysenberry fruit, layered with the darker licorice of the Petit Verdot and the blueberry of the Malbec. The elegant oak adds structure to the sweet ripe fruit, focusing the flavors into a concentrated mouthful.
