2023 NOTG Late Harvest White Wine
Cool breezes and frequent fog make a late harvest wine possible in Napa County even when other areas of the valley become too warm. Botrytis developed in the Sauvignon Blanc but it was a late season and rain was threatening, so we brought it in with the Muscat Canelli and the last of the Albarino. The fermentation was so pretty that we decided to just make one stainless steel barrel into a dessert wine to see how it turned out. The wine is pale straw in color and has a tangy nose with aromas of honey, grapefruit, lime blossom and kaffir lime. The palate is not as rich as past vintages, but has lovely acidity with flavors of osmanthus, dried apricot and Asian pear.
